Announcing the contest winner!

21 Mar

Two weeks ago Lucha Shoes launched their first pair of kicks, and as a proud owner I can attest to their general fabulosity.  I don’t usually wear flats, which this blog more-or-less proves, but I have practically lived in my Lucha’s the last 10 days or so.  As soon as I get home from work I put them on, I wear them on weekends and rainy days and Monday’s and…oh, wait.  I’m getting distracted.  You’re not here for me to wax poetic (or Carpenter-ish) about these shoes, although, be warned, I could do such a thing without any encouragement whatsoever.  You’re here to see if you won a FREE pair of Lucha shoes!  Right?

I counted up all the comments from my site and the Lucha blog, all the tweets, the blog posts mentioning Lucha Shoes and my little contest, and ended up with nearly 100 entries!

And entry #57 was Jen from Little Miss Penny Wenny!!  She entered several different ways, and the winning entry was linking to her own blog and mentioning the contest and Lucha shoes!

Drop me an email, Jen and I’ll get all your information! (heidi.theshoeologist at the gmail)

Thank you all for entering!!  And I certainly hope that you will buy a pair of Lucha’s, even if you didn’t win.  I am actually going to be ordering another pair in grey this week because I have found (shockingly!) that red shoes don’t necessarily “go” with everything.  (I know, I can hardly believe it myself!)  However, I’m convinced that a pair of red and a pair of grey will cover my casual-shoe needs for the rest of forever.  Well, until they come out with a new color.  (wink!)

What are you fighting for?  Fight with your feet.  Lucha Shoes.

This contest sponsored by Lucha Shoes, all opinions are 100% mine.  For more information about sponsoring The Shoeologist, please email me at heidi.theshoeologist[at]gmail[dot]com.

3 Mar

Have you heard of Lucha Shoes?  I am guessing probably not, which is a shame because they are the next big thing.  On the other hand, Lucha’s have only been available for purchase for approximately 48 hours, so you aren’t too far behind the curve.

As the very first sponsor of The Shoeologist, I am particularly fond of Lucha.  And you should be over the moon about them because they are giving away a brand new pair of FABULOUS shoes to one lucky reader of The Shoeologist!

Aren’t those perfectly adorable for Spring!?  They come in men’s and women’s sizes–men come in blue and gray, women in gray and red!  (Red!  I’m swooning!)  Lucha’s are more durable than their competition, the sole lasts longer and the fabric can withstand more of a beating.  Oh, and they are only $38 dollars, considerably less expensive than the competition!  Hello!  That is fantastic!

Want to hear the coolest part about Lucha Shoes?  I mean, besides the durability and the comfort and the fantastic price-point and all that jazz?   Lucha is Spanish for “a fight”, on the inside of the sole of each pair of Lucha’s there is a space to write down what you are fighting for.  Fighting against a disease?  Write it down.  Fighting against poverty or hunger or for civil rights? Write it down.  Are you fighting for love?  Write it down.  Fighting for Mexican orphans to have something other than rice and beans? Fighting to wear stretchy pants in your room, for fun? Write it down. (And then have a good giggle because Jack Black?  He’s funny!)

Fighting to go back to school?  To graduate?  Are you fighting to pass your Microeconomics/Calculus class? (Ahem, that would be me.)  Write it down and wear it on your sole (ha!  I’m so punny!).

Fight for your education, fight for civil rights, fight for your political beliefs, fight for your right to party (thank you Beastie Boys), fight for a team on which you play, fight for a team you cheer for, fight for your school, fight for a band you love, fight your mother-in-law (kidding, kind of…), fight your weaknesses, fight for spiritual growth, fight bad karma, fight temptations, fight pollution, fight global warming, fight against child prostitution, fight for clean energy, fight the BCS, fight for a cancer cure, fight HIV. The possibilities are endless…

What are you fighting for? Fight with your Feet!  Lucha Shoes.

I love it!  As soon as I heard that Lucha Shoes come in red I knew that was the color I simply HAD to have.  They have been ordered and are on their way to me and I can’t WAIT to flounce about town in sassy red shoes.  Dah, they’re so cute!

Alright, let’s get down to the nitty gritties of how you are going to win a pair of these fabulous shoes to do your own around-town flouncing!

the study of black mary jane’s

16 Dec

(Psst, I’m announcing the winner of my MuckBoots giveaway at the bottom of this post–keep reading, okay?)

Black leather Mary Jane’s with 3.5-inch heel, by Rampage.  These used to be my all-time favorite pair of shoes.  I wore them constantly and frankly, they are starting to show their age.  However, when I looked out the window this morning and saw a couple of inches of fresh snow, the suede shoes I was planning on wearing became a bit too impractical.  Paired with funky black lace tights these simple shoes make quite an impression.

AND NOW FOR THE AWESOME PART:  (Not that funky black lace tights aren’t the epitome of awesome, they are, but in this case FREE STUFF is probably more awesome.)  I am giving away a free pair of Muckboots in your choice of color (black, brown, hunter green or bright pink).  After weeding out a dozen or so invalid entries*, I had 228 comments, tweets, and blog-mentions.

And the lucky winner is commenter #37, Allie who said “Ooh!  I have heard great things about MuckBoots!  And in Rochester, winter boots are a must!”

Congrats Alllie!  I will be emailing you shortly with details on claiming your prize!  I really hope these lovelies help make your Rochester winter more bearable!

For those who did not win, make sure to keep checking back for your daily shoe fix and upcoming giveaways!

*As per the contest rules, detailed here.

Win a Free Pair of Boots!

23 Nov

We are under a massive blizzard advisory today and tomorrow.  Massive.  Universities are closing, most businesses are shutting down early afternoon…it’s gonna be huge.  That being said, most of my footwear is not really “blizzard” appropriate.  I have spent the better part of the morning lusting after Wellie boots–these ones in particular.  SO! To celebrate thanksfulness and snow and early Black Friday, I am GIVING AWAY for FREE a pair of these Original MuckBoots in a lovely faux-croc stamped pattern.  (Brand new, shipped from the manufacturer, not picked out of my cloest.) They come in black and brown and hunter green and bright pink.  I would pick the pink, of course, because in blizzard weather (with temperatures rumored to feel like -20 degrees!) I will always choose a bright color to cheer me up.  If you are the lucky winner of these boots, however, you can choose whatever color you’d like.

Contest Details: Three Ways to Enter!

1. To enter to win please leave a comment on this post.

2. Link back to this post on your blog–please leave the URL as a separate comment. (This option will reserve you a special spot in my heart, a stiletto-shaped spot.) **Edited to add: you must include an actual hyperlink in your post, and you must mention this contest.

3. Tweet this contest, leave another comment with your tweet, be sure to include your @Twitter username. (And while you’re at it make sure to follow @theshoeologist)

Contest will close on Wednesday, December 15 at 12:00 midnight, Pacific Time.  Winner will be chosen at random (which is why you want to enter as many times as you can!) and announced on Thursday, December 16.

NOW FOR THE IMPORTANT PART!! I love having these contests and free giveaways on my blog.  That being said, the best way for me to be able to do that is for more people to know about TheShoeologist.com.  Please “like” me on Facebook.  Please share the link for this contest.  Tell you friends, co-workers, family, the barista at your morning coffee place, tell everybody.

If you don’t, the blizzard wins.

and the winner is …drumroll please…

18 Oct

Two weeks ago I launched TheShoeologist amidst a cloud of stiletto-based dreams and a bundle of nerves; my anxiety levels were comparable with either Christmas morning or jury duty selection.  You, my lovely readers, have been incredibly supportive of this new project leaving comments, tweets, Facebook links, and reposting on your own blogs.

For my first giveaway I had 134 entries: 110 comments, 15 tweets, and 9 blog-posts.

And the winner is Renee who said “I don’t think that I have ever owned a pair of yellow shoes, but I am LOVING these.  They would definitely be a fun, cheerful addition to my shoe wardrobe!”  Congrats Renee!

If you are not Renee, don’t be too bummed out; there will be another contest next month for another pair of fabulous shoes (quite possible a pair of boots, actually).  Make sure to check back over the next couple of weeks for the entry details, you can also follow me on Twitter, @theshoeologist, for more updates.

the shoeologist: enter to win free shoes!

To celebrate the launch of my new, shoe-obsessed corner of the Internet I will be giving away a free pair of shoes.  Yes, you read that correct, FREE SHOES!  Specifically, this gorgeous pair of mustardy-yellow, snakeskin stilettos from Nine West.  I have been coveting these for several weeks now–the color  is divine, the shape is classic, and I can’t imagine a better color for fall.

There are a few ways you can enter to win, and I hope you do a little of everything to increase your chances of free footwear!

1.  Leave a comment on this post, make sure you use a valid email address.  Duplicate comments will be thrown out.
