the study of party shoes: black ruffled sandals

10 Feb

This week is all about party shoes, those fancy, satiny, ruffled, sparkly heart-stoppers. Click to see all the party shoes here.

Black open-toe heels with ruffles, ankle wrap and 3.5-inch heel.  I used to wear these fairly often–usually with slacks to prevent raised eyebrows at work–and I had forgotten about them until I started digging around in my stacks.  Such a cute pair of heels!  Swoon!  I tried to find some similar ones, but unfortunately search results for “bedroom shoes” were more fuzzy slipper and less fantastic heels.

the study of party shoes: pink satin peep-toe heels

7 Feb

This week I’ve decided to take a little break from my regular daily footwear postings and do something a little different.  I have several boxes of party shoes that rarely get worn, so in honor of Valentine’s Day* I will be putting a little sparkly, a little frill, and/or a little satin up everyday.  I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

Hot pink satin peep-toe pumps with 4-inch heel, by RSVP.  These beauties would be fabulous with a little black dress (or a little gray dress, or a sparkly dress, or a creamy dress…you get the picture) or a pair of dark, skinny jeans and a flouncy, sparkly top.  I love the pleating and the peep-toe.

Martinez Valero Carolina Platform Pump, Fuchsia (09.95)
(These have the most fantastic detail at the toe! Hello, “bedroom” shoes!

GUESS WHondo3 Peep-Toe Pump, Pink ($49.47)

Mojo Moxy Inferno Peep Toe Pump, Fuchsia ($58.76)

Menbur Sling Back Pump, Fuchsia ($52.25)
(These are made in Spain, sling-back and a bow on the toe, absolutely beautiful!)

Whelp, that’s it for today.  Come back tomorrow for something sparkly!

*I know some of you may hate Valentine’s Day / Single Awareness Day.  I am not exactly looking forward to it this year either, I don’t have a date nor a party invite, which means I have no excuse to wear any of these beautiful shoes.  I may just end up ordering a pizza, watching a cheesy chick-flick, and trying them all on again. One by one.  Alone.  In my apartment.  Don’t judge.

the study of red patent leather peep toe pumps

4 Feb

Steve Madden red patent leather, peep-toe, platform pumps with 4-inch heel.  Today is National Wear Red Day to raise awareness for heart health for women, tragically, I haven’t done laundry in about 3 weeks and my stash of red tops is buried at the bottom of the dirty clothes hamper.  But I decided I could wear red heels instead.  I know these are more summery than February-y, but between the Go Red for Women and Valentine’s Day I figured it didn’t really matter.  Right?  Right.  Here’s some additional bright-red lovelies for your Friday-viewing pleasure!  Happy Weekend!

the study of gold metallic peep-toe platform sandals

1 Feb

Gold metallic snakeskin peep-toe, platform sandals with ankle strap and 5-inch heel, by ShoeDazzle.  Are these particularly “winter weather” appropriate?  Mmm, no, not really.  Have I ever been one for “practical” or “appropriate?”  Mmm, no, not really.

Ok, so let’s chat a minute about ShoeDazzle, they are a subscription shoe dealer, which sounds a lot fancier than it really is.  Basically, you get a new pair of shoes every month for a pretty low price, I’m on month two and have already purchased extra pairs.  And not all of the shoes have 5-inch heels, I promise.  You actually take a little “shoe preference” quiz and they give you a selection based on that.  If you don’t like any of them you can request new ones.  It’s a pretty sweet gig.  And, of course, I get referral points if you use this link to join.  So head over there, check it out, report back to me, okay?  Okay.  Happy Tuesday.

substitute teacher: the study of bright red peep-toe heels

26 Dec

Today’s shoes are brought to you from across the pond, Mackenzi is one of my most favorite former students and I was thrilled when she volunteered to fill in for me from her outpost in London.  Miss Kenzi, you have a great start on some amazing style with these beauties!

I have always, always, always wanted to own a pair of red patent leather heels. They are sassy, classy, and seriously hot.  However, I have never found that pair that is just quite right. Then I found these beauties. They are everything I ever wanted in a red shoe; skinny heel, peep toe, shinny, eye popping color, these ladies are the complete package. And the best part? Only $20. I’m in love.

the study of black t-strap platform sandals

14 Dec

Steve Madden black, reptile-print, strappy, t-strap platform sandal. These are absolutely swoon-a-licious and even with a 5-inch heel I managed to spin my way around the dance floor last night at a Christmas party.

Admittedly, my Christmas party ensemble did not include these hot pink tights…mostly because they did not particularly go with my mistletoe headband.  In an attempt at full disclosure, here is a photo of the actual tights+sandals duo.

Steve Madden is having a sale today, 25% off and free shipping with code HOLIDAYS25. So clickity-click-clack on over and find something strappy or sparkly or whatever strikes your fancy.

the study of black satin round-toe pumps

8 Dec

Black satin round-toe pumps with bow detail and 4-inch heel and teeny little platform, by Amanda Smith.  Things are a little crazy around here, I’m in the middle of finals exams and finishing enormous research papers (done!  Holla!) and am running on a serious lack of sleep fueled by copious amounts of Dr. Pepper.  I have exactly one week of CrAzY left and then I can relax…until next semester.

the study of black peep toe, t-strap, platform heels

29 Nov

Wild Diva black peep-toe, T-strap, platform heel.  In the last 24-hours my neighborhood received about a foot of snow (oh man, am I wishing I had these boots RIGHT NOW!), so I sensibly wore a pair of clunky-but-warm snow-boots to shovel out my car.  But as soon as I arrived in the office I peeled those off and slipped into these 5-inch heels.  Can you wear peep-toe shoes with tights?  Absolutely.  Extra points if your tights are a fun color like these bright red ones

Piperlime is having a 20% Off Sale today with Coupon Code LUCKY20.  I think you should hop over there and pick up something for your own Happy Monday/Early Christmas present.  Or for someone else’s Christmas present (I’m a size 10).

Cyber Monday Sale! Get 20% off all Piperlime merchandise! Enter coupon code LUCKY20.

If you’re looking for some T-strap sandals to wear, here are a few options that I love.  These both have ruffles up the front, which always makes things more fabulous.  These Betsey Johnson Walland Sandals are already on sale, but drop down to just $80 with the 20% coupon code.  And these Pierre Dumas Belinda-16 Sandals are marked down to $35 and will drop even further with your 20% coupon code!  Happy Shopping!

the study of orange silk-shantung stilettos

31 Oct

Orange silk-shantung platform stilettos with 5-inch heel and knot detail on toe, from Charlotte Russe; paired with nude fishnets.  First of all, Happy Halloween.  Second of all, aren’t these to die for!?

These fantastic heels are one of my new favorites.  I found them on clearance two months ago and immediately fell in love with them.  Deep love.  While they are perfectly festive for Halloween, I have a sneaky suspicion they will be worn and loved the other eleven months of the year.

the study of criss-cross, strappy platform pumps

20 Oct

Absolutely swoon-worthy Kenneth Cole platform sandals of soft navy-green leather with chocolate suede trim, criss-cross straps, and a peep-toe.  I found these lovelies in Chicago on Michigan Ave/The Magnificent Mile several years ago, they were a present to myself after a particularly horrible break-up and I have always thought fondly of them.

Until this week, I believed these heels were navy, but by happy circumstance these shoes ended up next to a peacock-teal dress and suddenly the shoes had a bit of this fabulous greenish hue; I fell in-love with them all over again (and promptly wore them to a big fancy work meeting.  Success!).
