the study of black puma sneakers

4 Mar

Black PUMA sneakers, love them for casual Friday.  Admittedly, these were initially stolen from an x-boyfriend.  I mean, we were dating at the time of said shoe heist, but I totally stole his shoes.  And I wear them on a fairly regular basis.  And I love them.  (Thanks DL!)

PUMA Soleil Suede Fashion Sneaker, Black ($60.00)
Here are the exact shoes I’m wearing today…well, the women’s version of them. (wink)

PUMA Cat Fashion Sneaker, White/Black ($65.00)
I love the hot pink lining of these! So adorable!

PUMA Repli Cat III L Sneaker, White/Hot Pink ($70.00)
Who doesn’t love the pink and white combination? I mean, seriously. (OK, I realize some of you don’t like pink. And I’m not particularly obsessed with it, not like Pink Suede Shoe at any rate, but I think a little pink on your feet is fantastic.)

ALSO!  Remember to enter to win a FREE pair of Lucha Shoes! Contest entry and details are here. Contest is open until March 18.

Have you heard of Lucha Shoes?  I am guessing probably not, which is a shame because they are the next big thing.  On the other hand, Lucha’s have only been available for purchase for approximately 48 hours, so you aren’t too far behind the curve.

As the very first sponsor of The Shoeologist, I am particularly fond of Lucha.  And you should be over the moon about them because they are giving away a brand new pair of FABULOUS shoes to one lucky reader of The Shoeologist!

Aren’t those perfectly adorable for Spring!?  They come in men’s and women’s sizes–men come in blue and gray, women in gray and red!  (Red!  I’m swooning!)  Lucha’s are more durable than their competition, the sole lasts longer and the fabric can withstand more of a beating.  Oh, and they are only $38 dollars, considerably less expensive than the competition!  Hello!  That is fantastic!

Want to hear the coolest part about Lucha Shoes?  I mean, besides the durability and the comfort and the fantastic price-point and all that jazz?   Lucha is Spanish for “a fight”, on the inside of the sole of each pair of Lucha’s there is a space to write down what you are fighting for.  Fighting against a disease?  Write it down.  Fighting against poverty or hunger or for civil rights? Write it down.  Are you fighting for love?  Write it down.  Fighting for Mexican orphans to have something other than rice and beans? Fighting to wear stretchy pants in your room, for fun? Write it down. (And then have a good giggle because Jack Black?  He’s funny!)

Fighting to go back to school?  To graduate?  Are you fighting to pass your Microeconomics/Calculus class? (Ahem, that would be me.)  Write it down and wear it on your sole (ha!  I’m so punny!).

Fight for your education, fight for civil rights, fight for your political beliefs, fight for your right to party (thank you Beastie Boys), fight for a team on which you play, fight for a team you cheer for, fight for your school, fight for a band you love, fight your mother-in-law (kidding, kind of…), fight your weaknesses, fight for spiritual growth, fight bad karma, fight temptations, fight pollution, fight global warming, fight against child prostitution, fight for clean energy, fight the BCS, fight for a cancer cure, fight HIV. The possibilities are endless…

What are you fighting for? Fight with your Feet!  Lucha Shoes.

I love it!  As soon as I heard that Lucha Shoes come in red I knew that was the color I simply HAD to have.  They have been ordered and are on their way to me and I can’t WAIT to flounce about town in sassy red shoes.  Dah, they’re so cute!

Alright, let’s get down to the nitty gritties of how you are going to win a pair of these fabulous shoes to do your own around-town flouncing!

the study of black satin slingback heels

2 Mar

Black satin slingbacks with 2.5-inch heel by Karen Smith.  After wearing fuzzy slippers for 10 days due to a nasty sinus infection, I decided to ease my way back in to the world of wearing heels.  I’ve had these heels for ages, they are classic and go with pretty much everything.  And with a modest 2.5 inch heel they were just the ticket to get used to being at work all day.

Bella Vita Classic Sling Pump, Black Satin ($43.97)
These have some fabulous detail on the toe! Heart!

J.Renee Edison Pump, Black Croc ($46.72)
I do love me some faux-croc heels, they are classic forever and ever.

Nine West Manequin Pump, Black Leather ($64.39)
I really love these, Nine West makes some of the classiest shoes!

Steve Madden Staciee Slingback Pump, Black ($89.95)
Swoon!

VANELi Zinaida Dress Pump, Black ($100.00)

the study of getting back in the swing of things

28 Feb

Hello? Is this thing on?

*tap, tap, tap

Hello? Oh. Hi. It’s me. I’ve spent the last week buried under a really heinous sinus infection and three midterms. It was unpleasant at best and excruciating at worst. I think 6 of the last 8 days I spent in fuzzy socks and pajamas, donning shoes only to go to the University and muddle through my Economics midterms in a foggy stupor. Somewhere in there was a sinus scrape which resulted in two black eyes, and some antibiotics that finally offered a bit of relief.

So, now that I’ve dug myself out of my studies and my sinuses (yes, it’s gross, I know) I am now buried in work. I’ll be back tomorrow with a fancy pair of shoes and another giveaway, cross my heart and kiss my elbow!

the study of sequined, peep-toe, platform heels

17 Feb

Black sequined peep-toe, platform pump with 4.5-inch satin heel by Mainframe.  These are the ultimate party shoe, but I am wearing them at work today because, well, I can.  These fabulous heels were a gift and when I opened the box I thought they would be a “special occasion only” shoe.  I was dead wrong, I have worn these to work, on dates, to church, I’ve worn them everywhere.  There’s nothing quite like a little sparkle at your feet on a Thursday.

(Side note: in looking at most of these pics it has come to my attention that I have really veiny feet.  Is that normal?  I mean, seriously, the top of my foot looks like the forearm of some meat-head hopped up on steroids!  Maybe I should invest in more tights.)

(I would like to ap0logize to these beautiful shoes for mentioned meat heads and steroids in the same post as they.  Twice.)

Happy Thursday.

Bordello Siren Sequined Pump ($63.95)

Bordello Cabaret T-Strap Sequined Pump ($59.95)
(these ones come in so many fabulous colors!!  Red!  Pink!  Silver!)

Chinese Laundry Ladybug Sequined Peep Toe Platform Pump ($58.00)

the study of red satin slingbacks

16 Feb

Red satin pointy-toe slingbacks with dainty bows and a demure 2.5-inch heel, by Karen Smith.  These are generally categorized as “fancy shoes”, but today feels completely springy and I, for one, would like to celebrate it.  With satin slippers.  Impractical?  Yes.  But when have I been known for being practical?

Also–this is my 100th post as The Shoeologist!  I think that deserves a little celebration, right?  For the next two minutes I will have a mini dance party in my cube.  I suggest you follow suit.  (wink)

Nine West Manequin Red Slingback Pump ($55.14)

J.Renee Amaya Slingback Pump, Gold ($52.22)

Moda Spana Quid Pump, Red Silk with bow ($85.00)
(these are quite possibly my favorite from this lot!)

J.Renee Rachele Slingback Pump, Fushia ($89.95)
(these lovelies come in ten different colors!)

Calvin Klein Daria Satin Pump, Midnight (09.00)

Martinez Valero Rusched Slingback, Bronze ($79.72)

the study of red patent leather sling-back sandals

14 Feb

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Bright red patent leather sling-back, peep-toe shoes with 4-inch cork heel, by Guess.  I probably own almost ten pairs of red heels, but these are hands down my favorite.  Today I’m celebrating my birthday (well, it was yesterday, but close enough) and my favorite holiday, Valentine’s Day.  I don’t have a sweetheart this year to celebrate with, but I have an evening full of cupcakes and books and fabulous shoes in store for me.  It should be awesome.  (Note: The Strand is a used book store in New York City that is absolutely fabulous.  It tops my list of favorite places in the city, you must check it out if you are ever in NYC!)

Other lovely V-Day heels for your enjoyment:

Dollhouse Kasana T-strap Sandal, Red ($38.46)

Harajuku Lovers Delaney Platform Sandal, Red ($89.95)

Joan & David Collection Kenyon Platform Sandal, Red Patent Leather ($220.95, but so pretty!)

the study of party shoes: magenta ruffled t-strap heels

11 Feb

Today is the last of the party shoe mini-series, and we are ending on one of my all-time favorite pairs of heels.  Click here for the rest of the party shoes.

Magenta satin t-strap peep-toe sandals with rosettes and 4-inch heel.  I would like you to take a moment to just admire these–they just might be my favorite pair of shoes.  I have worn these only a few times–to the symphony, on a fancy date, around in my apartment on a particularly sad day–they never fail to make me feel like a million bucks.

I have been touting wearing fancy party shoes with jeans, however these ones must be seen.  Please to wear with something that shows a little leg, okay?

I can’t find these online anywhere, but here are a couple of options that are similar.  (Well, they are close–the ruffled roses on a T-strap aren’t to be found.  Sob!)

Miss Me Dazzle-32 Sandal, Coral ($33.78)

Calvin Klein Rajah Ankle-Strap Sandal, Fuchsia (109.00)

Badgley Mischka Kiwi Sandal, Raspberry Satin (137.90)

Bordello By Pleaser Preen Peep Toe Platform, Fushia Satin ($41.95)

the study of party shoes: black ruffled sandals

10 Feb

This week is all about party shoes, those fancy, satiny, ruffled, sparkly heart-stoppers. Click to see all the party shoes here.

Black open-toe heels with ruffles, ankle wrap and 3.5-inch heel.  I used to wear these fairly often–usually with slacks to prevent raised eyebrows at work–and I had forgotten about them until I started digging around in my stacks.  Such a cute pair of heels!  Swoon!  I tried to find some similar ones, but unfortunately search results for “bedroom shoes” were more fuzzy slipper and less fantastic heels.

Touch Ups Ivanna Pump, Black ($55.16)

Dyeables Frilly Sandal, Black ($19.95)

Betsey Johnson Nelson Pump, Black Satin (40.95)

the study of party shoes: aqua and rhinestone strappy sandal

9 Feb

This week I’m posting all about party shoes, the ones I rarely wear but still are so beautiful I get butterflies in my stomach when I think about them. See other party shoe posts: pink satin peeptoe heels, and silver sparkly strappy sandals.

Aqua-teal strappy evening san,dal covered in rhinestones with 4-inch heel.  These lovelies also came from my beloved Nordstrom Rack.  I love the diagonal strap, and the little rhinestone-encrusted flower on the toe, and the saturated color.  These would be perfect with a silvery gray dress, or a black pencil skirt, or jeans and a sparkly top.  Oooh!  Or hot pink!!  Oh man, these would be fabulous with hot pink!  How often do you get to wear bedazzled aqua shoes!?  Not often, sadly.  I must do something to fix that. (And I’m seriously crushing on the hot pink + aqua

There are not many aqua evening shoes around the interwebs, but here are a few heart-stoppers.

Luichiny Gettin Hitched Sandal, Teal Satin ($32.92)

Charles by Charles David Wisper Sandal, Turqouise ($63.22)

Luichiny Gal Lop Sandal, Teal Satin ($68.95)
