the study of black friday shopping

26 Nov

I have never been one to get up at o-dark-hundred to head to the mall and fight the crowds and the cold and the crazies–I’d much rather curl up and enjoy my turkey-induced coma.  That being said, there are all sorts of online deals today for the biggest shopping day of the year!

Make sure to enter my giveaway for FREE boots, contest is open until 12/15/2010.

Happy Shopping!

the study of giving thanks

25 Nov

I hope you have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.  I will be devouring this homemade apple pie, complete with 4-inch stiletto.  (Yes, I make pie.  And yes, I always cut something awesome in the top crust, last year was a pony, this year is a high heel pump.)

Make sure you enter my giveaway of a free pair of boots!

the study of red patent leather clogs

24 Nov

First things first: Did you know Amazon is having a sale on all their shoes today?  Specifically they are offering 30% Off Shoes on any purchase!  I highly recommend you clickity-click right on over there and get yourself something cute, or something warm, or whatever strikes your fancy.

Oxblood red patent leather Dansko clog.  This is a departure from my regular 4-inch heel, but the requisite 20 minutes of scraping ice off my car after yesterday’s storm made stilettos too impractical for even me.  Besides, I’m treating this Thanksgiving Eve like a casual Friday (as are the 6 other people in my office who were suckered into working today).

Now, I’ve heard many people rant about how ugly and boring and dumb clogs are, I will respectfully disagree.  These particular clogs are closed around the heel, so now snow can get in (thank heavens!), and the Dansko sole and foot-bed mean they are RIDICULOUSLY comfortable.  Sure, they come in matte black or brown for anyone looking for sensible shoes–but they also come in a zebra print, a veganversion, and even purple patent leather! (I am crushing on the purple ones, they very well may be my 30% Off Shoes purchase for the day!)

Be sure to enter my giveaway for a FREE pair of boots!  Contest ends Dec. 15, 2010.

Win a Free Pair of Boots!

23 Nov

We are under a massive blizzard advisory today and tomorrow.  Massive.  Universities are closing, most businesses are shutting down early afternoon…it’s gonna be huge.  That being said, most of my footwear is not really “blizzard” appropriate.  I have spent the better part of the morning lusting after Wellie boots–these ones in particular.  SO! To celebrate thanksfulness and snow and early Black Friday, I am GIVING AWAY for FREE a pair of these Original MuckBoots in a lovely faux-croc stamped pattern.  (Brand new, shipped from the manufacturer, not picked out of my cloest.) They come in black and brown and hunter green and bright pink.  I would pick the pink, of course, because in blizzard weather (with temperatures rumored to feel like -20 degrees!) I will always choose a bright color to cheer me up.  If you are the lucky winner of these boots, however, you can choose whatever color you’d like.

Calling all shoe-loving bloggers!

17 Nov

Hi.  Heidikins here, your resident Shoeologist and keeper of this blog.  I would like to get a little housekeeping out of the way today while I’m out and about and without a proper internet connection with which to upload, edit and post footwear-fotos. Do you like how I just made up the term “footwear-fotos?”  Yeah, I’m a nerd in real life, please bear with me.  I’ll be back tomorrow with your regularly scheduled programming of daily shoe postings.  BUT, in the meantime, please read the following Public Service Announcement:

Do you love shoes?  Do you have a pair you absolutely love that the world should be able to admire?  I am looking for a few guest bloggers to fill in on days (like today) when I am absent.  You can write about shoes you own, shoes you love, shoes you want, shoes you wish for but will probably never own (ahem, Manolo Blahnik), whatever you’d like, as long as it is footwear based.  If you’d like to take a stab at being the substitute Shoeologist for the day drop me a quick note at Heidi.theShoeologist [at] gmail [dot] com.  Please do me a teensy little favor and spread the word; if you have a shoe-loving friend, tell her (or him!) to email me.  If you aren’t already a fan of The Shoeologist on Facebook, please take  a second to “like” me.  I promise it will make my whole day.

Until I return, here are a few pairs of shoes that I am drooling over right now:

the study of black patent leather pumps

16 Nov

No-brand black patent leather pointy-toe 3-inch pumps.  Nothing quite like wearing fishnets on a Tuesday to spice things up a bit (with a below-the-knee skirt, I’m not that spicy).  These heels were a gift from an aunt who worn them once or twice and then experienced the grave misfortune of having her feet grow a half-size.  Ohmygoodness, I can’t even imagine, I would cry if that happened to me.  Knock on wood.   If you’re in the market for a classic black patent pump, and I highly suggest that if you do not already own a pair that you look into it post-haste, here are a few you may enjoy.  These 3-inch black patent pumps from Steve Madden are very similar to the ones I’m wearing.  If you’re looking for a little higher heel these 4-inch heels from BCBGirls are drool-worthy.  And lastly, if you can’t say ”No” to an ankle strap (like me) you’ll love these black patent Mary-Jane’s.  (Seriously, I may have to buy those last ones.  I just can’t get over how de-lovely they are!)

the study of red leather, suede and croc peep-toe pumps

15 Nov

Red leather, suede, and faux stamped croc peep-toe 4-inch pumps from Amanda Smith.  I particularly love the cut-outs on the toe.  I actually have these pumps in 3 different colors; the red ones here, black, and a lovely pair in brown tweed (which will be worn at some point, I promise).  These heels are incredibly comfortable and go with everything.

Besides, there is something to be said for combating rainy Monday’s with red shoes.  Right?  (Right.)  If you aren’t wearing red shoes today here are a few more pairs to lift your spirits.  I love these red patent peep toe pumps from Guess, and the teeny little cut-outs on these red suede heels from Franco Sarto are absolutely divine, and who wouldn’t immediately fall in-love with these Bandolino peep-toe heels in red stamped croc?  Communists, that’s who.  Everyone else should be swooning by now.

the study of red vans with velcro

12 Nov

Vans “Prison Issue” Velcro-closure sneakers in cherry red.  It took me approximately 3 seconds to determine that the Velcro was more awesome than kindergarten, which led to an almost immediate purchased of these shoes.  Three years later I have them in two different colors (red and a gray plaid) and am still completely in-love with them.  In looking around online I found them in black and white, but nothing else.  If you’re looking for a red sneaker (and frankly, if you don’t have a pair you should definitely be in the market for one, or two), these red Chuck Taylor’s should do the trick.

the study of chocolate brown, pointy toe stilettos

11 Nov

Chocolate brown pointy toe 3-inch stilettos with ruching and bow at the toe.  I can’t remember where I purchased these, and the brand name has disappeared from the inside.  I love the sassy ruching on the toe and I love the classic shape.  In snooping around for something similar, I found this suede pair that I love, and this faux croc pair from Bandolino (I’m a sucker for anything snake skin, reptile print, or croc stamped).

Note from the Editor:  Skipping about the internet looking at delicious chocolatey brown heels has given me a serious hankering for about 12 new pairs of heels, all in various shades of brown, all lovely.   Do I need more shoes?  Not particularly.  Do I want them?  Absolutely.  Will I buy them?  ….I will not buy shoes today. I will not buy shoes today.  I will not buy shoes today (repeat 100 times).  I am announcing this here on the hope that it will keep me from running up credit card today.  Cross your fingers for me!
